Our Thanksgiving

I just wanted to do a post with pictures of the deserts and things we had for Thanksgiving. And while I'm posting the deserts, why not post a picture of the turkey and other things too? :) Here is the turkey.

And here are the rolls, green beans, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce that we had. We had already started eating before we could get the picture LOL! :)
And here are the the cookies, cake and pie. We had sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate drop cookies, honey spice cookies, peach pudding bread, holiday cake, pumpkin pie, and strawberry shortcake. My mom did a perfect pumpkin pie!
And here is the strawberry shortcake. This was one of my favorite deserts!! :D

The "real" meaning of the candy cane

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
We got a magazine in the mail yesterday with an advertisements for christmas stuff, candy canes, ect. Now everyone knows that candy canes are candy "canes" right? Well this is the "real" meaning of candy canes.
Many years ago a candy maker wanted to make a candy that would symbolize the true meaning of christmas-Jesus. The hard candy was shaped like a "J" to represent that Jesus is our rock of all ages. The candy was made of white to stand for the pureness of Jesus. The red represents the blood that Jesus shed to save us from our sins. So the next time you see a candy cane take a minute to remember the real meaning of christmas.
I thought that it was kind of neat. I never knew that a candy "cane" was actually ment to be a "J"! And when people hang them on christmas trees each year they are hanging them upside down! I wonder, did the candy maker actually call them "candy canes" or was it something else like "candy J's"?

My 2 day of nature studies

Well, today we went to the same habitat we had gone to last time. We pretty much saw most of the things we had saw before, but this time we saw more of everything, (except the bull frog). We saw A LOT of turtles, BIG turtles! We saw different colored dragon flies, spiders, fish, huge black berries, wood ducks and a weird looking green bug. :) I don't know if I will post ALL of our nature studies if they are not very different. But I though I would post about this one because we saw a little more of everything than last time. :)

Blinkie maker

Hi everyone! I found this site when I was looking for Lord of the Rings blinkies!
http://www.free-blinkies.com/blinkie-maker/
It is a make your own blinkie site, and it is NOT one of those hard websites that give you a lot of stuff to read before you get to make the blinkie! All you do is choose what you want your blinkie to say, pick its color, pick the wording color, and the background color. Easy, huh? Go ahead and make one and tell me if YOU thought it was easy! :)

My first day of nature studies

Well, today was my first day of nature studies! It was a park that had an animal habitat pond. There were bridges so that we could walk across the pond areas. Now I'll start telling you what we found! :) The first thing we did was walk across a small bridge over a little pond. On the railing was a mayfly! I had just figured out a few days ago that adult mayflies only live 24 hours. In the pond was a lot of sunfish and bass, a few turtles and even a bullfrog! We saw some spiders too. We also saw ducks, a beetle, a dragonfly with checkered wings, a huge red dragonfly, and a few bugs. We even saw blackberries about the size of a cherry or a large grape! Then we saw a hawks nest on a pole! Later when we went a little farther away, we saw the mother by a pond next to the father. The next thing we know, she's in the nest feeding the babies the fish she had caught! It was fun watching her. She then went back to the pond to catch more fish. We sat down on the grass in the shade and decided that we would try drawing the mother, father and baby hawks so we could always remember them. We also found a tree next to where we were sitting and it had some kind of berry on it. It tasted good but it had tons of seeds in it and we still aren't sure what it is. Well, just when we had sat down to draw the hawks, there comes a big dog off its leash. The park had rules about letting dogs get loose. Well after the dog had gone away we got ready to draw and my brother found a four leaf clover! :) That's right I said four, not three. We kept it and we started drawing our pictures. When we were done it was about time to go home. Even though I didn't want to go home yet, I new we'd be coming back next weekend. This was my first day of nature studies. I plan on posting all of our nature study trips if I have the time. So tell me what you thought about today!
Till later!!

An interesting day

A few days ago, (probably day before yesterday) We were supposed to be yard sale hunting. We also had $30 to spend. Though we kept on looking, we found no yard sales. We had gone to farmers market and bought four scones and four giant cookies (which of course, were not all for me, but me AND my three brothers). Next to farmers market was a bank where they were having yard sale. We went over there and bought a few things. I also found a nice pair of shoes. By now you might be thinking this is another post about yard sales, but it's not. We went walking to try to find some more yard sales and we had no luck. While walking though, we found two small (almost newborn) kittens! We were in the country side of town. They had there eyes open but they were still small. One looked just like Midnight, and the other was orange but looked like it had the same pattern of stripes. They were also wild. How do I know this? I tried to pick one up and it ran away. We kept walking and we saw another kitten which was orange but it was in a stroller next to an apartment. I went over and it let me pick it up. Now we were trying to decide what way we wanted to go, while still in the country part of town. We walked and we went down a path that had a grape tree. :) Now you might be telling yourselves grape trees don't exist and that is the exact thing we were telling ourselves. It so happens that a few concord grape vines grew into the tree making it look like a "grape tree". :) I wish I could have taken a picture to show all of you. Well we continued on and we saw a wolf! My mother said it must have come down from the mountains to look for food. We live in Grants Pass which is very busy so we don't get wolfs around here often. I wish I could have gotten a picture of it too. That day was really interesting. I can't really explain how interesting it was through a post but it was fun. (And it may have been more interesting if you had actually been there. LOL) :) For some reason I just had to share this day with you all.
Till later!!

My mother cat

OK I finally got the pictures of my mother cat. These are not the original pictures so I had to get new ones. It turns out that somehow the other ones I had before got deleted so I got these yesterday. It was hard to get the pictures because she wouldn't sit still so if the pictures may seem a little fuzzy that's why. Let's just face it my cats are not cooperative and they do not sit still for more than a few minutes if that! I love taking pictures of them but I would love it if the would be still! :) Well anyway here they are. This is her about to pounce on something. Maybe me. She was also very distracted that day. She is not allowed in the house because she is VERY picky when it comes to her litter box. So we have her in an outside pen in the back yard. So she is not allowed out of her pen unless I am out there to watch her and because she had had her kittens (Midnight and Shadow) she has had to stay inside with them. So she has not been out in a while.

Here she is again. Watching are neighbors outside. There is not much to say about this particular picture all she was doing was sitting then sprang out of the way of the camera. (Again not being still).
And here she is by one of our rose bushes in the back yard. And if you want to know her name, it's Elektra. I have had her since she was four months old and she is now two. She is very feisty for a female cat and I have had lots of bites from her but after she had her kittens she pretty much calmed herself down.
And here she is sitting down in our back yard. This would have been a perfect picture if she was actually looking at me because it's nice and clear. :) But again she wasn't being cooperative and I couldn't get a very good close up of her face. Well this is the last picture.
Till later!!

Yard sales

Today we went to a few yard sales and we found a bunch of signs but either there was nothing we needed or the yard sale signs were expired. On our way back home we found a sign that said garage sale and it wasn't outside like most garage sales it was inside a house. We went in and there was a few older women and they told us that if we found something we liked that we could tell them how much we wanted to pay for the item and they would see if that was a reasonable price. We looked around and we found a few shirts for me. One with wolves, one with a cat and a rose, one with giraffes, and one with birds. They are in pretty good shape with only a few stains that we can probably get out and they were only a quarter! We also found a old camera. When we asked how much it was and they said two dollars. I went back in again to ask if it worked and they said they didn't know so they asked if we wanted it for one dollar and so we took it too. The last thing was a really old pair of binoculars. They were thirty five dollars and we asked if she could go lower so she asked if we would give her ten and we said we didn't think we had it so she then asked what we would give her for it and we said five is all we can pay for it. She hesitated and said OK I'll take five. But it was amazing! We got a pair of really old binoculars for five when they were priced at thirty five!! :) We did get a few other things too but they aren't anything I need to post. :) As we thanked them and left we stopped at a little store and bought a drink because it was hot then went home. Today was fun and I love my shirts! LOL :)
Till later!!!!!

Hello! I have been waiting to get some pictures of my books to put on. My mother gave me the idea to show my favorite books that I've read on my blog so I thought I would do that. Only I didn't know how to use my mother's and father's digital camera so I had to wait till my mother could help me get the pictures. Yesterday she showed me how to use it so she could get things done and I went ahead and took the pictures. And today she helped me load them on. Anyway here is my first book that I took a picture of. I am still reading this one but I thought that I would post it because it's a good book. :)

Now this one I have already read and it's a very good book for girls who are getting older. :)

This is one I recently finished. It's a good book too. I have only read this book out of all the Betsy books and I'm interested in reading the others. This series originally started from when Betsy was a little girl and then went on till she got married.
This one I had finished a few months or so back and it was a really good book.
Not only is it a good book but I also love cats so that alone just made it awesome! :)
This is the last book that I had taken a picture of. I am currentaly still reading this one because it's a very long book but I'm getting closer to finishing it and then I plan on starting something else. :)
Till later!!!
